Embry-Riddle's Aviation Management Degree Has Broad Industry Applications

You're Halfway There

If you've already earned an Associate's degree at an accredited regional college or university -- generally 60 semester credit hours -- and you're interested in aviation and management, Embry-Riddle has the degree program for you. Our Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management is designed to accommodate the transfer student, and requires successful completion of 120 credit hours, normally completed in four semesters. If you lack the Associate's degree, you may also transfer a minimum of 60 credit hours which must be comprised of courses from the following broad areas: Communication Skills, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Computers, Business, Economics, Management, Humanities and Social Sciences.

The aviation management degree meets the needs of the continually changing environment of education and business. The curriculum is designed to provide you with knowledge and skills essential to your entry into the workplace and society. Emphasis is placed on communication and quantitative skills; global awareness; social responsibility and ethics; information technology; critical thinking and teamwork; business functional skills; aviation/aerospace industry familiarity and experience; as well as development of an attitude of continual and lifelong learning.

Sound Business Foundation

In the business core courses, prerequisites not previously met may be taken from open elective credit hours. The curriculum for the degree provides a sound business foundation in all disciplines of business, enhanced by aviation business applications. Courses include accounting and finance, law, ethics, human resources, production and strategic management.

Each our our business degree programs offers a unique educational experience for the student and serves as the appropriate foundation for entry into a specific business arena. The curriculum is frequently enriched by colloquia, forums, visiting speakers, and other programs. Classroom work incorporates computer applications, group as well as individual projects and presentations, and provides a blend of theory and applications that prepares you for a variety of positions in the workplace.

Cooperative education experiences are encouraged, with faculty assigned to assist you in co-op placement. In addition, elective courses allow you to broaden your general education or pursue specific interests in aviation/aerospace-related topics.

Active guidance on the needs of aviation management is provided by the Business Advisory Committee. Department-sponsored tutoring and labs are also provided.

Students should be aware that several courses in each academic year may require prerequisite subject knowledge and/or class standing. Check the course descriptions in the current catalog before registering for classes to assure appropriate placement.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Aviation Business Administration programs at the Daytona Beach campus are accredited by:
• The Aviation Accreditation Board International(AABI) and
• the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). .
The department works with the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), in cooperation with the University Aviation Association (UAA) to establish minimum management certification requirements. The degree programs offered by the Business Administration department meet the needs of the continually changing environment of education and business.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management requires successful completion a minimum of 120 credit hours, and is normally completed in four semesters, pending total credits transferred into the University.

The Embry-Riddle Advantage: The Career Services Office

One of the most valuable benefits of being a student or alumnus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is access to the resources of the Career Services Office.

The Career Services Office provides career development assistance to all students and alumni of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, regardless of campus affiliation. The Daytona Beach office serves Daytona Beach, Worldwide Campus, and Worldwide Online students. Prescott campus students are served by the Prescott office.

The Career Services Web site offers students and alumni:

  • An alumni network which enables students to contact alumni throughout the United States and abroad to learn more about their careers and employers.

  • Cooperative education opportunities

A career fair is hosted at the Daytona Beach and Prescott campuses each fall. Throughout each year, dozens of companies visit the campuses to recruit students and to provide information about their industry. On-campus interviews are also scheduled year-round.

The Career Services Office employs a staff of program managers to provide one-on-one career advisement, mock interviews, and résumé critique services. The Career Services Office encourages students to make contact early in their Embry-Riddle educations to explore career options and develop a successful job search strategy.

Career Resource Center
The Career Resource Center is a library of information that includes addresses and information on potential employers, as well as information on hiring trends, salaries, and other career references. The Career Resource Center is continuously updated and expanded to meet student needs. The Career Services Web site also serves as a virtual resource center with links to job listings, salary information, sample résumés, interview preparation, and company Web sites.

EagleHire Network
The EagleHire Network allows students and alumni to submit résumés directly to employers seeking full-time and co-op/internship candidates. EagleHire is a free service and is available to all students and alumni of the University.

Cooperative Education/Internship Program
Cooperative education positions provide an opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience while earning college credit, learn about their chosen field, and establish contacts in the industry. Co-ops and internships are opportunities to earn college credit while gaining career-related work experience for undergraduate and graduate students.
